Get More Visitors To Your Website By Optimizing

The higher your page comes up in search engine results, the greater the traffic that is directed to your website. That's what search engine optimization is about. Webmasters strive to maintain high rankings with their sites by using popular search terms to get their sites ranked high among the search engines. Techniques for getting top-ranking are ever changing, an ongoing.

A high search engine ranking is only important if people will be searching for your product or service on a search engine. One of the most important criteria in getting a good search engine ranking is the number of back links you have to your website from related websites.

One of the most important things you can do to ensure your success at improved search engine ranking is to develop a solid plan of action. Yes one of your main objectives is search engine rankings but your other goal is traffic that converts into sales.

"If you build it, they will come," is the famous quote from the movie Field of Dreams. However, as all too many webmasters and business owners have discovered, just building a website is no guarantee of receiving visitors. This means that just because a website is listed in the search engines it doesnt mean that it will be found.

It is the process of increasing the amount of visitors to your website by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. The reason you want your site to rank high is to attract visitors, by attracting more an more visitors this will convert into sales. Search engines will examine the text on your pages and look for keyword relevancy. The frequency of the keyword on a site is very important.

The better optimized on some keywords your site is, the faster it will be displayed on the first page. So keyword inclusion and placement is very important. To get an idea of the number of times a keyword is searched for per month, type a keyword into overture or Google search. This is how keyword density is calculated; it is the total number of keywords that are repeated divided by all content words. The greater the specificity of your keyword is, the less competition you will face. When editing your copy make sure the keyword is naturally placed in your content and is not repeated to many times.

However, you must be stringent about who you link to and how many links you have. Article writing is a very good method of building your sites rankings and getting links, so is press releases, this helps in the same way, but for many businesses this is not an easy task.

It is also important to understand that not all links are considered equally valuable by the search engines. Although content is very important, you will also receive credit for the number of links to your site. A high number of incoming links is extremely helpful to your rating. There are many more factors that go into marketing a website, you do need keyword rich content, but you also need links and offline marketing to really push your marketing for your business. To search engines, incoming links are like 'votes' in favor of your website.

Start a Cake Decorating Business for Fun & Profit

Start a cake decorating business if you are looking for something different in the line of home based businesses. Do you have time and creativity? Cake decorating allows you flexible time and the freedom to be artistic in a consumer filled field.

People have special occasions all the time that they celebrate with specialty cakes. Think of all the times you have purchased cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other events and you will soon see how this could be a fun and lucrative career. Cake decorating businesses are also simple to start and requires little overhead. Most of the essentials for a home based business of this kind are very inexpensive and easy to come by. If you possess an oven and a microwave, you are already on your way to success.

If you have ever made cakes before, you are already ahead of the game. Do you have children in daycare or school? Think of all the birthday parties you go to in a year and you will see how this occasion alone can be profitable. Most parents today have never even made a cake, preferring to purchase one that is already baked and decorated.

You would be fulfilling a service that these parents are already taking advantage of in the retail market. A home based cake business can bring in business for graduations, weddings, baby showers, Easter, Christmas, and many more occasions and holidays throughout the year. Once it is known that you have quality service and beautiful cakes, your schedule will fill every month.

There are a variety of sources you can draw from when choosing materials and supplies after you start a cake business. The Internet is an invaluable source of ideas, as well as magazine publications and specialty cookbooks. You will need some specific cake decorating tools of the trade such as baking pans, icing flutes, spatulas and of course cake mixes and basic instructions on the decorating process.

All of these items can be found at your local department stores and on the Internet. Specialty items, such as wedding toppers and the like are easily found on the Internet as well. There are cake decorating lessons available at many trade schools and there are even some available on the web. In some cities, there are dedicated cake decorating schools. Professional cake decorating is taught in some groceries as well. Once learned, there is no end to the cake decorating opportunities available to you. This fun and fulfilling career can be started with minimal monetary investment and your dedication.

You may find that word of mouth advertising will do you sufficiently in the beginning, with fantastic results. Word of mouth is still a very powerful tool in any kind of business. Often, one happy local customer can breed several referrals and steady income. Remember, people are already purchasing this service somewhere else, why not you?

Don't forget that the Internet is also a great way to get your business known. If you are looking to increase your scale and expand your services once you are successful, the Internet provides a great advertising outlet for a cake decorating business. Having a web site to view your creations will go a long way in helping people recognize you and your work. This can also help your local customers learn about your skill and see your product before purchasing, without having to go to the store. If you take orders online, they may not even need to call you. At this point you are providing a service to them without them even having to leave the comfort of their home.

Cake decorating is a trade that is going to be around forever. A little training and a little practice will provide you with a rich career, full of fun and satisfaction. Opening a home based cake business will provide you with regenerative income, freedom over your schedule, and the joy of customer satisfaction.

Chilly vs. Chili - Cooking for Winter Comfort

When Winter strikes in all it's icy glory and the temperature outside is frigid and Springtime seems like it will never arrive what is there that can bring a little cheer and warmth. The comfort of a good home cooked meal with your family and friends comes to mind. Good Company and Comfort Food. What are the best Comfort Foods to warm up your Winter. A Bowl of Home-Made soup like Minestrone or a plate of Home-Made Stew or - the King of all Comfort Foods - A big helping of your favorite Chili. After all, who ever heard of a Stew Cook-off.

A great bowl of Home-Made Chili makes a great meal any time, but in the dead of Winter it is the perfect food, a hearty, warm, stick-to-your-ribs great meal.

Chili is easily the most personal of all foods. There is so many ways to make it and almost nothing is off limits. You can use the traditional beef but it is equally perfect with turkey, lamb, chicken or pork. The meat can be ground or cubed or you can make it with no meat at all. You can make it with or without beans. It can be mild or so hot as to make you sweat, depending on your tastes and preferences and for whom you may be cooking.

There is almost nothing that can not be used in a pot of chili. I have either made or been served chili with everything in it from beer to raisins to mangoes. I have had sweet chili and hot chili, chili served over rice or spaghetti or with the traditional oyster crackers and served over hamburgers or hot dogs..if you have never had a chili-dog or chili-burger you have missed a couple of lifes simple pleasures. Sharp cheddar cheese is always a plus. Chili can also be made in quantities to meet any need, from a family of four to enough to feed an army of guests. All you need is the right Stock Pot and cooking supplies to make it happen.

The point of all of this is simple. I am not trying to teach you how to make Chili. I am trying to get you to have some fun and make chili your own. Find a couple of good chili recipes to try like ones you will find at CHILI COOKS.com and once you know some things that you will always want in any Chili, basics like chili powder, cumin, beans, no beans, what ever variety of peppers, meat, no meat. start experimenting. This time add raisins and a little cinnamon to sweeten it. Next time add a little cayenne or jalapenos or habaneros to spice it up. Make your chili your own.

Quality Cookware makes Better Home Cooking

I make Chili several times every Winter and I have no written recipe although I do occasionally try out an intriguing recipe I have either found or been given. My Chili is never exactly the same twice and It is always the right Chili at the right time and it is always a warm comfortable experience, at least that is what my friends and family tell me.

Wedding Party Gifts Ideas

In a big, bright party that consummates the best relationships, your friend or loved ones weddings are special wedding party gifts that love has given them. With that glowing smile in their faces, it seems like they have everything they could have asked for.

Indeed wedding party gifts are a great way to show your friend and loved ones that this event is not only significant for them but also for you. It might be ironic that brides register their wedding to get more gifts. But as they say, they can be the icing in a cake. If you are able to give your friend more smiles for her most special day, then you have made her day memorable when it seems that it cant be any more memorable.

There is what we call silly wedding party gifts. These gifts will surely give your friend a giggle and a laugh and then a nice charming sigh. Silly wedding gifts could be a nice picture frame or sketch that shows humor or maybe an out of this world memorabilia that both of them can display in their house. These gifts and keepsakes can make your friend laugh their hearts out whenever they pass by, a good way in letting you remember them... a lot.

Some guests also go for the practical party gifts for weddings. The touch and the sense for these gifts should remind us that after the wedding party ends, the marriage follows and that could take a long time. Giving them some token that they know they could use in their homes can satisfy a need. These gifts can be a nice appliance or a cute dining set. But what matters is that these wedding gifts will give them a cushion to a rocky road ahead.

One of the best set of wedding party gifts is what we call an I appreciate you wedding gift. This tells your special friend that their happiness is your happiness too and you are just as eager as them to know what their life will become together. These wedding gifts also remind her of the moments of her single life and the times that you were together and hanging out. Highly personal gifts are usually part of these kinds of gifts such as letters, scrapbooks, and special cards.

What is important is that you are able to express yourself with your wedding party gift. In the end it should not be just a gift that is generic and ready to be looked at for seconds then hidden away in a cabinet. As emotions get stuck in the memory of our loved ones, then your gift deserves the same thought.

How To Choose The Best Student Laptop?

How To Choose the Best Student Laptop?

Merchants are singing those three magic words again, 'Back to School' and the fallout is everywhere!

Just as you're getting your deep dark pre-cancerous tan going -- you hear those words -- and it spells the end of summer. Once again we are bombarded with advertising, featuring the latest in 'teen ware' 'school ware' and 'metal detector ware'. Kidding!

Is it just me or does it seem this year there is a lot more 'Back to School' advertising for notebooks and laptops? They seem to be everywhere... on TV, radio, and online.

Laptop ads are everywhere. Why is this?

Well, notebooks have come down in price, they have become more affordable, even for the modest student. Laptops have also come down in size, making them ideal for that school napsack, or dormroom. They have also become tougher and sturdier... better equipped to meet the hard/wear/tear that students give it.

With notebook technology changing every two years or so; notebooks can now handle most tasks students throw their way. These advanced notebooks can do the job. They also present a much stronger entertainment value to students, they can handle better graphics and gaming, but most students try to keep parents in the dark about this factor as they plead for a new laptop for college or school. All this pleading is further fueling the demand for laptops.

Then there is a little thing called the Internet. Throw in a wireless connection and the student laptop is coming into its own. Big Time!

The Internet has become a second teacher/parent/counselor to most students. God help us all! But it has also become a priceless source of the collective knowledge on this planet; frightening but true. The Internet is an invaluable source of knowledge for any high school/college student.

Not having ready access to all this knowledge and information will put any student at a disadvantage with his peers. It's a very competitive world, in high school, in college and in the future job market; every student should have an even playing field.

That's where the little notebook computer enters stage right!

Laptops or notebooks have quickly become a school necessity. When? How? Why?...

It's the perfect learning tool for students:

* very portable, you can carry them anywhere, class, cafe, dorm, home...

* very convenient, you can take notes in class, type up assignments, print assignments, communicate home, access the Internet...

* very tough, many newer notebooks are designed to withstand a good pounding and keep on computing, ruggerized for sturdy use...

* very powerful, notebooks or laptops are catching up to their desktop cousins in computing speed, hard drive storage and performance...

* very affordable, prices have dropped and are falling even further, laptops are now outselling desktop PCs so this price will drop even further, there's a whole slew of used and refurbished laptops hitting the market...

If you're a parent, student, or guardian; here are some of the factors you should consider when buying the best student laptop or notebook:

* size, it must be small, lightweight and very portable, fit comfortably under the arm or in that backpack

* sturdy, it must be tough, sturdy, ruggerized, and able to take more than one hard knock because students are students

* connections, wireless connections should be offered, the Internet is such a valuable tool in itself - a student should be able to access it anywhere. Most notebooks have these connections but check -- a printer port, a 56Kbps-modem, a VGA port for an external monitor, and should have at least one USB port for external keyboard/mouse, digital cameras, drives, and MP3 players

* technical specs, it should have enough RAM, storage space (hard drive) and computing speed to do any job the student can throw at it

* battery life, make sure your student notebook has a reasonable battery life, 5 hours or more

* price, it should be reasonably priced, refurbished laptops may be an option for those on a strict budget

However, some words of wisdom, students or parents shouldn't skimp too much -- if you're spending 10's of thousands on an education, you should also provide for the best possible equipment in the form of a sturdy, lightweight high performance laptop. Besides, a high quality laptop will last for years... just imagine your son or daughter writing their resumes on it after they have finished college... keep this image in your mind as you go about buying that perfect student laptop.

Astronomy and Kids

During the clear night sky and as long as the city lights are not close or bright enough to interfere with your naked eye vision, it is always a good idea to grab a blanket and some candles and head to your house's roof or the nearest hill. Admiring the stars is not an exclusive activity kids are only allowed to perform, but it can be something you can share with them while introducing them to the unknown world of the universe.

If your child has already looked up gazing the moon and the stars and has asked you all sort of questions regarding their characteristics, their special stories and the interpretation of their slow movements, you should invest some time during a Saturday night to take your kids to the countryside and show them the stars while they awe and wonder on how these "pins" are stuck on the dark sky and why they are not visible during the day. Introducing your child to the marvels above their heads can be a tremendously educative experience your kids will love to repeat as soon as possible. Even your back yard is an ideal place to begin the learning journey that can last a lifetime. But parents support that most of the times getting started is the hardest part of this process.

If your young child has not yet learned the basics, then it is probably wisely to throw on your yard's lawn some blankets and invite your children to join you under the stars. Asking first questions, before trying to explain how things are, can assist you to figure out what they should learn first and begin teaching them the first astronomy lesson in their lives. After locating the sky's landmarks try asking questions that will excite your children and will motivate them to want to find out more. You can begin by locating the most easily recognizable element of the sky, the Moon before attempt to begin explaining why although the moon does not spin around itself, we actually see a portion of it every day until we are able to admire it as a whole. Furthermore you can look for other landmarks in the sky, like stars, in order to begin explaining the astronomical constellations. Your children will be thrilled to be able to admire such interesting scenery simply by looking at the moon's surface and create imaginative stories for the stars.

While children are still in elementary and middle school, they are more already exposed to stars and constellations. But the number of constellations and stars we are able to see each year is actually a very small number out of the plethora of stars in the sky. But if your last present to your teenager kid was a pair of binoculars, then things become even simpler. Bring a book about astronomy (suitable for your kids age) and begin reading and explaining to your children what you are reading really means.

Remember that outdoor learning activities can be as simple as noting the time and location of sunset and moon rise, and as complicated as finding the names of the brightest stars in the sky during a clear night. Of course, you can repeat it as often as you like if the weather permits such outdoor activities for a family to get together. But even if the weather conditions do not allow you to go out and admire the night sky, next to a good pair of eyes, the Internet is the backyard stargazer's best friend. Today, you will be able to find here are almost as many great websites devoted to astronomy as there are stars in the sky.

Basic Troubleshooting for a Ceiling Fan

Basic Troubleshooting

I. Fan is not working

Check to make sure that all controls on the fan are functional and set properly. Does the fan have a light? Does the light work? If both the fan and the light are not working, it is likely a connection issue and/or the fan is not getting power. If the light is working and the fan is not, the first thing to check is if the black wire has come disconnected inside the canopy. Next, check to be sure that the blades turn freely. If they do not, the problem may involve stuck bearings , a broken flywheel, or simply something stuck in the path of the motor or blades that does not belong there.

II. Fan light is not working

If the fan is working but the light is not, the problem is usually a loose connection between the power source and the light kit.

III. Fan runs, but wobbles or shakes

See section on balancing.

IV. Fan runs, but slowly.

First, check to see that the fan blades turn freely by hand and coast after being spun. If rotation is in any way stiff, this is a sign of dirty, dry, or gummed bearings, which can slow the motor. The fan should be oiled. Second, does the fan wobble at all? If for any reason the blade pitch is steeper on one or more blades than the motor is designed for, this will slow the motor. See the section on balancing. If the blades turn freely and are balanced, the cause of a fan running slowly is almost always a bad capacitor. It should be replaced with a capacitor of equal value.

V. Fan makes mechanical noise while running i.e. clicking, knocking, grinding.

If it's a mechanical sound, chances are it is a mechanical problem. It could be something as simple as a wire that has slipped into the path of some moving parts. If the fan wobbles, balancing the fan may silence the noise. If the fan is balanced, the next thing to check is if anything is coming into the path of the blades or any other noticable moving part. If the noise appears to be internal to the motor, it is most likely a bearing issue, or something (such as a wire or connector) coming in contact with moving parts inside the housing. Dry bearings can also make a grinding, squeeling, or rattling noise. Lastly, sometimes mechanical noises are the result of loose parts on the fan. Check the blades, blade brackets, light kit glass, etc, to be sure all the screws are tight.

VI. Fan makes a humming noise while running

The key to a quiet fan is to isolate the motor vibration from all other parts. This occurs, in the majority of fans, in three places: between the motor and the blade brackets, between the blade brackets and the blades, and between the downrod/motor flange and the mounting bracket. Some fans also have vibration-isolating material between the mounting bracket and the ceiling. If your fan makes a noticable humming noise, inspect it for the above mentioned types of vibration-isolating material. With the exception of the rubber flywheel, if your fan is lacking any of the above, they are easy to add and should solve the majority of humming problems. You can always add additional material as rubber washers and spacers are readily available.

VII. Fan makes an electrical buzzing noise while running.

By far the most common cause of an electrical noise from a fan is the use of an improper speed control. Most fans made today are not designed to be used with Solid State speed controls. Use a speed control, such as a capacitor type, that is recommended for your fan. Do NOT use a dimmer switch EVER on a fan motor.

VIII. Fan moves very little air.

First, check and see if any of the other problems listed above apply. Running too slow? Off balance? Check and make sure the fan isn't operating in reverse (for most fans, clockwise, see 'reversing section'). Another, less likely, option is that the blades became bent or warped without actually putting the fan out of balance. Observe the fan from the side to see if the blades are still pitched noticably. If not, reference the balancing section for bending them back into place.

Lastly, you might just have a cheap fan that doesnt move a lot of air. Peruse our site, and buy a new one!
